Fundraising for Club Development

Edendork is a small rural community located in the east of County Tyrone. Our club Edendork St. Malachy’s GAC was founded in 1932 and is very much the backbone of the local community. Our club is much more than a sporting organisation but uses sport as the basis to bring people together and to support each other. In recent times our efforts and objectives have increasingly focused on building resilience within our young people.

With twenty-six teams across men’s, ladies and youth football and camogie, our club has significantly increased its membership in recent years. With just a single full-size pitch and a much smaller training pitch we have struggled to provide the facilities that our numbers require. In any given week many of our younger playing members have had to travel distances in different directions for training. The heavy usage of our pitch has also resulted in some of our teams conceding home advantage due to the non-availability of the main playing pitch.

Recognising that our playing facilities are inadequate to meet our needs, our club has purchased additional land in close proximity to our main pitch. The aim is to develop that site and with that in mind the current committee have embarked on a dual strategy of fundraising and sourcing government body assistance. The committee have agreed not to develop any more than is required and to devise a development plan that best suits the needs of our club and local community.

As a result, Edendork GAC is pleased to launch this exciting new fundraising plan. Our finance and fundraising team have been working on this project for many months and we congratulate them on their efforts.
